Diagnosis :

Cavernous transformation of the portal vein

Findings :

On contrast enhanced CT images, the replacement of portal vein with numerous tortuous venous channels is observed. Periportal, perigastric, peripancreatic, esophageal collateral varicose veins and splenomegaly is seen. 

History :

A patient with hematemesis . Esophageal varices were seen in endoscopic evaluation. No detected hepatitis B or C infection.

chronic portal vein thrombosis - cavernous transformation - fundal & paraesophageal varices & splenomegaly due to portal hypertension
